After watching John Carter, the audience will certainly appreciate it, as well as its cast. One of the main roles was played by Houston actress Lynn Collins. This is the case when, when we see a person in a great movie, we automatically show affection for them and remember them for a long time.

Is Collins really such a talented actress, or was it a coincidence? What other films can you see her in? What was the reason for her career choice?

No memories of a carefree childhood

Lynn Collins was born on May 16, 1977 near Houston, Texas. She has a very diverse background: English, Irish and even Scottish.

Little Collins’s childhood was intense in terms of travel: she and her parents often changed their place of residence. For a while, Lynn and her family lived in Singapore, where she attended an American school. She often spent summers in Japan and studied martial arts, which would help her in the future.

At an early age, Collins was able to take part in a Christmas theater performance where she played one of the lead roles. Lynn loved being on stage and in the spotlight so much that her career choice seemed obvious.

Her parents were not surprised when they found out that their daughter wanted to study at Klein High School (near Houston) because they believed in her talent and success. She studied fine arts and drama at the school.

Acting career and personal life

At one point, Collins worked as a theater actress: she performed excellently in Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet. However, in 1999, she was invited to play in the series Law and Order: Special Victims Unit. Although she appeared only in a short scene, she felt new emotions and a strong desire to continue developing in this direction.

However, her wish came true: Collins was often invited to appear in movies and TV series where she played small roles. In 2004, she starred in the movie The Merchant of Venice, after which she became famous, even if not worldwide.

She also starred in the following movies and TV series: True Blood, X-Men: Origins: Wolverine, The Walking Dead (in season 10), Lost in the Sun, and others.

Lynn was married twice. In 2007, she married American actor Steven Strait after several years of relationship. In 2013, the couple divorced for unknown reasons. From 2014 to 2016, she was married to Matthew Boyle.

Most challenging and cherished role

Until 2012, the actress was unable to star in leading roles or appear in movies that gained worldwide fame. However, the movie John Carter changed the whole course of events. Even before the premiere, rumors began to circulate that something interesting and exciting was being filmed. And it’s true: the movie is quite complex, both in terms of plot and filming. Its budget amounted to 250 million dollars.

Based on the book The Princess of Mars, it is really highly rated. Collins got one of the most important roles – Dejah Thoris (princess of Helium on the planet Mars).

The actress said that when she saw the movie script, she couldn’t hold back her emotions and burst into tears. Lynn always considered herself a strong personality capable of overcoming many difficulties, but even then she realized that playing such a complex role would not be easy. This is despite the fact that the plot is simplified compared to the book.

Her martial arts skills, as mentioned earlier, came in handy in this case. The actress spoke very positively about everything related to this period of her life: studying the script, rehearsals, the filming process, difficulties on the set, etc. This film was life-changing in Collins’ life, as it made her famous and forced her to rethink her own views of the world and values.
